At the end of the day, choosing not to have children does not mean signing up to financially support everyone else’s. Her money, her choices, her boundaries. The fact that a colleague made the same assumption around the same time only proves this is a pattern that far too many childfree people deal with quietly for way too long.

The internet had her back on this one, and honestly it is hard to argue otherwise. You do not owe anyone a financial safety net simply because you spent your money differently than they did. Family or not, that logic does not hold up.
